Galileo Search is conducting an Exclusive and Confidential search for an Assistant Director of Emergency Services to join one of the Southeast's leading integrated health systems.
This newly created leadership position has been established in response to substantial Emergency Department growth, recent expansion of treatment capacity, and the launch of a new regional transfer and access program designed to support increasing patient demand and health system growth.
As the flagship hospital and primary referral hub of the health system, this Level I Trauma Center continues to expand its role as a destination for complex and emergent care. The Assistant Director will join the leadership team during a transformational period, helping guide operational excellence, patient flow, capacity management, and strategic growth initiatives across Emergency Services.

• Leadership opportunity within a Level I Trauma Center recognized for managing complex, high-acuity emergency and trauma patients
• Step into a department that has recently undergone significant expansion and increasing capacity, positioning the Emergency Department for continued growth
• Play a meaningful role in shaping the future of Emergency Services during a period of transformational change and strategic expansion
• Help drive the implementation and evolution of a newly launched regional transfer and access program designed to enhance patient flow, expand referral relationships, and improve access to specialized care
• Collaborate with executive leadership on initiatives that influence Emergency Services performance across the broader health system
• Lead operational excellence efforts focused on throughput, capacity management, patient progression, and Emergency Department efficiency
• Support a large, fast-paced Emergency Department that serves a diverse patient population across a broad geographic region
• Partner with physicians, EMS agencies, inpatient leadership, and ancillary departments to optimize care delivery and patient movement throughout the continuum of care
• Mentor and develop frontline leaders while fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, professional growth, and clinical excellence
• Drive performance across key operational and quality indicators, including patient experience, safety, throughput, door-to-provider times, and length of stay
• Participate in workforce planning, talent development, succession planning, and recruitment strategies to support continued departmental growth
• Contribute to strategic planning, service line development, and future Emergency Services initiatives across the health system
• Promote evidence-based practice, innovation, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards

Qualifications:
• RN required
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree preferred
• Progressive Emergency Department leadership experience required
• Previous Manager, Supervisor, Assistant Director, or equivalent Emergency Services leadership experience preferred
• Experience within a high-volume Emergency Department environment strongly preferred
• Demonstrated success in improving operational performance, patient flow, quality outcomes, and staff engagement
• Strong understanding of Emergency Department throughput, staffing models, performance metrics, and quality indicators
• Experience leading teams through growth, change management, and process improvement initiatives
• Knowledge of regulatory, accreditation, trauma, and patient safety requirements
• BLS and ACLS required; emergency nursing certifications preferred
• Excellent communication, leadership, collaboration, and relationship-building skills
