Lead a dedicated Behavioral Health team within a well-established acute care hospital environment in New England. This is a meaningful leadership opportunity for an experienced RN who is passionate about behavioral health, team development, and delivering compassionate, patient-centered psychiatric care in a high-demand service line.
This role oversees a specialized inpatient Behavioral Health unit serving adult patients with acute psychiatric needs. The program is a vital component of the hospital’s care continuum, offering a full range of services including crisis stabilization, psychiatric evaluation, therapy, medication management, and coordinated discharge planning. The Behavioral Health program is closely integrated with Emergency Services and outpatient providers to ensure continuity of care across the community.

Opportunity:
• Direct daily operations, including staffing, scheduling, patient flow, and overall unit performance
• Foster a supportive, therapeutic environment focused on safety, dignity, and individualized patient care
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, retention, and professional development of nursing staff
• Promote staff engagement through shared governance, mentorship, and clinical advancement opportunities
• Ensure clinical competency, regulatory compliance, and adherence to best practice standards
• Drive quality improvement initiatives focused on patient outcomes, safety events, and patient satisfaction
• Collaborate with physicians, case management, ED teams, and outpatient providers to ensure seamless care transitions
• Participate in leadership rounding, safety initiatives, and environment of care activities
• Monitor operational and financial performance, including staffing productivity and budget adherence
• Support a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and evidence-based practice
• Serve as a key leader in advancing Behavioral Health as a strategic service line within the organization
Qualifications:
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; ASN considered with relevant experience
• Master’s degree (MSN) preferred
• Minimum of 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience required (Behavioral Health or Psychiatry strongly preferred)
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a hospital setting required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training required within 60 days of hire
• Advanced certifications in Behavioral Health or Nursing Leadership preferred
• Strong understanding of psychiatric patient populations, including mood disorders, anxiety, psychosis, and co-occurring conditions
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and team-building skills
• Ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced, emotionally complex care environment
