Interim Director of Infection Prevention | CIC Required | Acute Care Hospital | New Jersey

Opportunity:

• Provide day-to-day leadership for the hospital's Infection Prevention program and serve as a visible resource throughout the organization
• Oversee HAI surveillance, NHSN reporting, communicable disease reporting, and infection trend review
• Work closely with Nursing, Quality, Medical Staff, Occupational Health, and department leaders to identify and address infection prevention concerns
• Maintain the annual infection prevention risk assessment, program priorities, and improvement initiatives
• Support regulatory readiness and compliance with CMS, The Joint Commission, CDC, OSHA, and state requirements
• Lead outbreak investigations, exposure follow-up, and implementation of appropriate control measures
• Provide guidance on sterilization, disinfection, environmental practices, hand hygiene, PPE, sanitation, and construction-related infection prevention
• Round regularly in clinical and support areas to monitor practices, provide education, and address concerns in real time
• Support and mentor Infection Prevention team members while helping ensure appropriate department coverage
• Provide infection prevention expertise to hospital leadership, committees, clinical teams, and community health partners

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Microbiology, Public Health, Medical Technology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required
• Certification in Infection Control is required
• Minimum 5 years of clinical or related healthcare experience
• Minimum 3 years of Infection Prevention experience
• Prior Infection Prevention leadership or program management experience strongly preferred
• Recent acute care hospital experience is highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of NHSN, CDC criteria, CMS, The Joint Commission, OSHA, HAI surveillance, outbreak investigation, and regulatory reporting
• Experience with sterilization, high-level disinfection, construction risk assessments, and regulatory readiness
• Strong communication, collaboration, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to be highly visible, hands-on, and responsive in a smaller hospital environment
• Available to travel to the client site and work a full-time schedule, M - F, or as needed
