Interim Director of Infection Prevention | CIC Required | Large Academic Acute Care Hospital | New Jersey

This interim leadership opportunity is ideal for an experienced Infection Prevention professional who can quickly assess priorities, stabilize operations, and lead a hospital-wide program through ongoing regulatory, surveillance, and performance improvement needs.

Opportunity:
• Oversee HAI surveillance, NHSN reporting, communicable disease reporting, outbreak investigations, and infection-related data analysis
• Develop and manage the annual infection prevention risk assessment, program plan, goals, and evaluation
• Ensure readiness and compliance with CMS, The Joint Commission, CDC, OSHA, state health department, and other applicable requirements
• Provide oversight for sterilization, high-level disinfection, hand hygiene, PPE, environmental practices, sanitation, and construction-related infection prevention
• Partner with Quality, Nursing, Medical Staff, Occupational Health, and hospital leadership on infection prevention and performance improvement initiatives
• Lead rounding, education, coaching, and corrective action related to infection prevention practices
• Supervise, mentor, and support Infection Prevention team members while ensuring appropriate department coverage
• Serve as the infection prevention subject matter expert for leadership, committees, clinical teams, and public health partners
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Microbiology, Public Health, Medical Technology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required
• Certification in Infection Control is required
• Minimum 5 years of clinical or relevant healthcare experience
• Minimum 3 years of infection prevention experience
• Previous Infection Prevention leadership experience strongly preferred
• Recent acute care hospital infection prevention experience is highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of NHSN, CDC definitions, CMS, The Joint Commission, OSHA, regulatory reporting, outbreak investigation, and HAI surveillance
• Experience with sterilization, disinfection, construction risk, and regulatory survey readiness
• Strong leadership, communication, data analysis, and performance improvement skills
• Ability to quickly assess priorities and provide hands-on interim leadership
• Available to travel to the client site and work a full-time schedule, M - F, or as needed
