Director of Surgical Services | RN | Acute Care Hospital | Mountain West Region

This is an opportunity to step into a senior-level nursing leadership role within a respected acute care hospital in the Mountain West region. The organization is seeking a Director of Surgical Services to provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership across a high-impact perioperative program.

This role is ideal for a Surgical Services leader who thrives in driving operational efficiency, team engagement, and clinical excellence, while partnering closely with physicians and executive leadership to enhance patient outcomes and program performance.

Opportunity:

• Reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer
• Leads all Surgical Services operations across a 6-OR suite
• Oversees OR, PACU, Pre-Op, and Sterile Processing
• Full strategic and operational oversight of perioperative services
• Ensures clinical quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance (TJC/CMS)
• Leads staffing strategy, recruitment, retention, and team development
• Manages departmental budget, capital planning, and resource allocation
• Drives case flow optimization, throughput, and operational efficiency
• Leads process improvement initiatives and survey readiness efforts
• Partners closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and executive leadership
• Oversees performance metrics, audits, and patient experience initiatives

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree preferred
• Compact RN license or ability to obtain required
•Minimum 5 years of Surgical Services RN experience with leadership at the Manager or Director level
• Strong knowledge of perioperative operations, regulatory standards, and quality initiatives
• Demonstrated success in leading teams and improving operational performance
• Experience managing budgets, staffing models, and departmental operations
• Strong leadership, communication, and physician collaboration skills
• Proven ability to drive process improvement and organizational change
