Galileo Search is seeking a seasoned, solutions-driven Interim Risk Management Leader to step into a high-impact, Interim role at a respected California hospital.

This role extends beyond interim coverage; it requires a transformative leader in Risk and Patient Safety, capable of stabilizing the present and designing a stronger future in this area.

California

• 6+ month assignment
• Own and lead the hospital’s risk management function, reporting directly to a dynamic and engaged VP of Quality & Risk
• Rebuild infrastructure: tackle a significant backlog and design a more structured, sustainable risk management system
• Lead investigations of risk events and collaborate with leadership to mitigate organizational exposure

• Partner with Quality, Safety, and Patient Relations teams to drive process improvements and enhance outcomes
• Support grievance resolution efforts and serve as a liaison between patients, families, and hospital staff
• Contribute to the design and implementation of proactive safety and risk mitigation initiatives
• Deliver education and expert guidance on risk management strategies and regulatory compliance standards
• Beta Heart experience highly valued — candidates with familiarity in this collaborative safety and transparency initiative will be strongly preferred for their ability to drive culture change and elevate patient trust.

• California Registered Nurse license HIGHLY preferred
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in acute care risk management or related healthcare risk roles
• CPHRM or Enterprise Risk Management certification preferred
• Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, risk mitigation strategies, and patient safety principles
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of hospital staff
• Available to travel to the client site and work a full-time schedule, M - F, or as needed
