RECENTLY PLACED - Interim Clinical Risk and Patient Safety Consultant | RN Required

California / Hybrid

Opportunity:

• 3+ month assignment
• 350+ beds
• Conducts Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) and coordinates safety event reviews and investigations
• Establishes and implements corrective action plans to prevent future occurrences
• Manages and analyzes risk management data
• Recommends appropriate revisions to new or existing policies and procedures to reduce the frequency of future occurrences; recommends ways to minimize risks through system changes; reviews and revises facility policies as appropriate to maintain adherence to current standards and requirements
• Reports events and sentinel events to the appropriate parties
• Provides feedback to directors at all levels in the effort to eliminate risks; assists clinical chairs and department heads in designing risk management programs
• Recommends appropriate revisions to new or existing policies and procedures

Qualifications:

• RN license required
• Five (5) years of clinical experience as an RN is required
• Previous experience in Risk Management or medical-legal activities
• Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM), Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) preferred
• Cerner and EPIC charting experience preferred
• Experience with RL Solutions for event reporting
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks appropriately are required
• Understanding of tools and techniques used to identify system or process failures that contribute to patient safety issues
• Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local regulations related to health care and accrediting/certifying agencies such as The Joint Commission and CMS
• Requires computer proficiency and capacity to analyze data and formulate meaningful information
• Available to travel to the client site and work a full-time schedule, M - F, or as needed
