Opportunity:

• Acute care hospital system with multiple service locations across the region
• Lead daily patient accounting operations, including billing, insurance follow-up, accounts receivable, collections, denials, and patient financial services
• Oversee accurate and timely claim submission for all payer types, including government, commercial, managed care, and self-pay accounts
• Monitor accounts receivable performance and develop strategies to improve cash flow, reduce aging, and strengthen revenue cycle outcomes
• Establish productivity expectations, performance metrics, and accountability standards for the patient accounting team
• Provide leadership, coaching, and support to staff while promoting accuracy, collaboration, compliance, and continuous improvement
• Review denial trends, complete root cause analysis, and ensure appeals are submitted within required timeframes
• Partner with internal departments and external resources to resolve billing, reimbursement, and payer-related issues
• Support process improvement efforts that reduce claim errors, improve payment turnaround, and enhance operational efficiency
• Maintain knowledge of payer requirements, reimbursement practices, billing regulations, and revenue cycle best practices
• Prepare and review reports related to accounts receivable, productivity, denials, and overall department performance
• Work closely with leadership to identify opportunities for improved workflows, stronger controls, and consistent execution across the business office

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of hospital business office, patient accounting, billing, collections, or revenue cycle experience
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or team leadership experience
• Experience with UB04 and 1500 claim forms, electronic billing, payer follow-up, collections, and reimbursement processes
• Strong understanding of hospital billing requirements, payer rules, insurance follow-up, denial management, and accounts receivable performance
• Proficiency with patient accounting systems, reporting tools, Microsoft Office, and other business office technology
• Ability to review data, identify trends, solve complex issues, and implement practical workflow improvements
• Strong communication, organization, customer service, and team leadership skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and remain professional in challenging situations
• Experience working independently and collaboratively with internal teams, leadership, payers, and external partners
