This is an opportunity to step into a newly created leadership role at a long-standing regional health center serving its community for more than a century. This acute care hospital is seeking a Director of Laboratory to provide strategic, operational, and cultural leadership across laboratory services in a community-focused, patient-centered environment.
This role is ideal for a laboratory leader who thrives in building teams, driving compliance and quality, and partnering with executive leadership to support organizational growth and operational excellence.

Opportunity:
• Newly created leadership role with opportunity to shape laboratory strategy and culture
• Full operational, financial, and strategic oversight of hospital and reference laboratory services
• Responsibility for laboratory budgeting, financial planning, and performance management
• Lead regulatory and accreditation compliance efforts (CLIA, CAP, CMS, HIPAA, and related agencies)
• Drive team development, recruitment, retention, and positive employee relations
• Partner with hospital departments to ensure seamless coordination of laboratory services
• Support the growth of reference laboratory services through client recruitment, retention, and customer engagement
• Champion quality, customer service, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Serve as the laboratory authority on regulatory standards, best practices, and operational excellence
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a scientific discipline required (equivalent education/experience considered)
• Master’s degree (MBA, MA, or MS) preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience in a hospital or reference laboratory setting
• 8+ years of laboratory leadership experience preferred
• Strong working knowledge of laboratory regulations, accreditation standards, and personnel management laws
•Demonstrated leadership, communication, and decision-making skills in fast-paced environments
•Strong project management, strategic planning, and change management capabilities
• Proficiency with laboratory information systems and related technology platforms
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred per facility standards
