Galileo Search is representing a search for an Interim Laboratory Director to lead a high-profile assignment within a respected healthcare organization.
This pivotal leadership position will manage the hospital’s laboratory operations and serve as a direct report to the Chief Nursing Officer. The Interim Clinical Lab Director will lead a committed laboratory team, foster operational excellence, and uphold regulatory standards throughout a key transitional phase.

• Immediate Need
• Lead a cohesive laboratory team in an acute care hospital setting
• Report directly to the CNO, serving as the primary leader for all lab operations
• Provide steady, mature leadership for a high complexity laboratory performing advanced diagnostic testing across multiple specialties, including Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Diagnostics, Blood Bank, and Anatomic Pathology
• Ensure continued compliance with all TJC, CAP, COLA standards and regulatory requirements
• Guide day-to-day operations, quality initiatives, and workflow efficiency in the laboratory
• Foster a positive culture of accountability, teamwork, and high standards of patient care
• Serve as a key contributor to hospital leadership, offering insight into lab services and strategic planning
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Medical technology, chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science required, Master's degree in Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field highly preferred
• Minimum 10 years of progressive laboratory leadership experience in an acute care hospital
• Demonstrated success in managing and mentoring lab staff
• Strong knowledge of TJC, CAP, COLA requirements, and laboratory compliance standards
• Capable of providing technical assistance when necessary, though this is not a working manager role
• Proven ability to communicate effectively across departments and at the executive level
• Professional maturity, sound judgment, and the ability to lead through transition are essential
• Availability to travel to the client site and work a full-time Monday - Friday schedule with occasional after-hours support as needed
