Galileo Search is partnering with a highly regarded not-for-profit healthcare system to recruit an experienced Controller. This high-profile role with a leadership development path will report to the AVP of Finance. The ideal candidate will be an energetic, hands-on contributor who demonstrates high accountability and is passionate about healthcare system finance/financial operations. This organization includes one of the largest Hospitals in the state.

Opportunity:
• Leads Financial Management functions, including accounting, disbursements, payroll, financial analysis, and budgeting
• Collaborates with cross-functional leadership to support financial performance and achieve organizational objectives
• Provides accurate and timely preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Oversees cash management, including investments, payroll, and other disbursements
• Ensures compliance with tax-exempt bond covenants and federal tax regulations
• Directs financial audits, including employee benefit audits
• Maintains the integrity of key financial systems: general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, and fixed assets
• Manages departmental resources to meet operational goals and organizational priorities
• Leads the development of annual operating and capital budgets
• Oversees the preparation and submission of Form 990 returns and other required federal and state tax filings
• Provides financial guidance and decision support to department leaders through data analysis and reporting
• Reviews provider contracts to ensure compensation compliance; evaluates physician WRVU production bonuses and coordinates timely payroll adjustments
• Leads and develops professional teams to promote continuous learning, accountability, and operational excellence
• Ensures compliance with HIPAA standards and confidentiality protocols
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's required, Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred
• 5–7 years in a technical or professional financial role with increasing leadership responsibility
• 5 or more years of experience in healthcare finance
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
• Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (FHFMA) preferred
• Demonstrates strong planning, organizational, decision-making, and communication skills
• Exercises a high level of integrity, confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical judgment
• Brings analytical thinking, critical reasoning, and a self-motivated commitment to excellence
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of hospital staff
