The Director of Clinical Risk Management strategizes, directs, and develops a regional health system clinical risk management program. This key member of the leadership team will utilize process improvement methods to address trends across a multi-site health system, from adverse events, near misses, root cause analyses, and issues related to clinical risk. With acquired information, the Director will analyze findings and work collaboratively with health system hospital leaders and clinicians to develop action plans and system improvements that will enhance the organizational culture, champion patient safety, mitigate risks of safety events, and support the provision of safe, quality patient care. This high-profile position will work under the direction of the organization's executive quality leadership.

The Director of Clinical Risk Management:
• Advances the organization's commitment to healthcare quality through collaboration, learning opportunities and communication
• Leads the integration of quality into the fabric of the organization through a coordinated infrastructure to achieve organizational objective
• Utilizes performance and process improvement, project management and change management methods to support operational and clinical quality initiatives, improve performance and achieve organizational goals
• Leverages the organization's analytic environment to help guide data-driven decision-making and inform quality improvement initiatives
• Directs organization-wide processes for evaluating, monitoring, and improving compliance with internal and external requirements
• Leads the organization's processes to prepare for, participate in, and follow up on regulatory, accreditation and certification surveys and activities
• Cultivates a safe healthcare environment by promoting safe practices, nurturing a just culture, and improving processes that detect, mitigate, or prevent harm
• Drives activities that support compliance with organization-wide voluntary, mandatory, and contractual requirements for data acquisition, analysis, reporting, and improvement
• Engages in the healthcare quality profession with a commitment to practicing ethically, enhancing one's competence, and advancing the field
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
• Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM), Certified Professional Patient Safety (CPPS) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred
• Minimum 5 years of current relevant experience in acute care risk management leadership
• Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local regulations related to health care and accrediting/certifying agencies such as The Joint Commission and CMS
• Knowledgeable of High-Reliability Principles and PDSA methodology
• Understanding of tools and techniques used to identify system or process failures that contribute to patient safety issues
• Working knowledge of quality management and performance improvement principles, practices and techniques
• Proficient in computer skills using EXCEL, PowerPoint, MSOffice, and Flowchart tools
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of hospital staff
