Opportunity:
• Two hospital system with an ADC of 300 combined | 1 FTE - Risk Coordinator
• Advances the organization's commitment to healthcare quality and patient safety through collaboration, learning opportunities and communication
• Utilizes performance and process improvement, project management and change management methods to support operational and clinical patient safety initiatives, improve performance and achieve organizational goals
• Leads the integration of patient safety into the fabric of the organization through a coordinated infrastructure to achieve organizational objectives
• Conducts Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) and coordinates safety event reviews and investigations
• Oversees and tracks the implementation of corrective action plans resulting from the CERTs, ACA, and RCA process, including Common Cause Analysis (CCA) as needed
• Conducts proactive Risk Assessment to identify, evaluate and develop action plans targeted at addressing variables, insufficient findings, and other opportunities for improvement
•Understands regulatory agencies specific to hospital operations such as TJC, OSHA, HCFA, and FDA with the proficient application of risk management standards necessary for compliance functions
• Cultivates a safe healthcare environment by promoting safe practices, nurturing a High-Reliability culture, and improving processes that detect, mitigate, or prevent harm
• Works in coordination with the Director of Patient Experience and hospital staff to resolve complaints before they develop into professional liability claims; ensures required responses to patients are complete and timely; analyzes trends; develops and presents reports
• Advances the resolution of complaints across the entire organization, working directly with operations to identify root causes of negative feedback and the best approach for patient service improvements
• Drives activities that support compliance with organization-wide voluntary, mandatory, and contractual requirements for data acquisition, analysis, reporting, and improvement
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a clinical discipline or MHA required
• Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM), Certified Professional Patient Safety (CPPS) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred
• Minimum 5 years of current relevant experience in acute care risk management leadership
• Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local regulations related to health care and accrediting/certifying agencies such as The Joint Commission and CMS
• Knowledgeable of High-Reliability Principles, Just Culture and PDSA methodology
• Understanding of tools and techniques used to identify system or process failures that contribute to patient safety issues
• Working knowledge of quality management, patient safety and performance improvement principles, practices and techniques
• Proficient in computer skills using EXCEL, PowerPoint, MSOffice, and Flowchart tools
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of hospital staff
