We are seeking a highly experienced, deeply engaged Infection Preventionist who brings both technical expertise and a strong, hands‑on approach. The ideal professional is a collaborative team member, a skilled educator, and a visible and engaged presence who thrives in dynamic clinical environments. This role requires someone who is comfortable working side‑by‑side with frontline staff, modeling best practices, and elevating the organization’s infection prevention culture through partnership, mentorship, and accountability.
Location:
Opportunity:
- 4–6‑month assignment
- 250‑bed, TJC‑accredited acute care facility
- Leads performance improvement initiatives to reduce HAIs and strengthen regulatory compliance
- Provides hands‑on mentorship, education, and coaching to infection prevention staff and clinical teams
- Conducts surveillance, data analysis, and reporting of infection trends and outcomes
- Collaborates closely with clinical, administrative, environmental, and support teams to ensure consistent application of infection prevention standards
- Maintains a strong, routine presence on patient care units, reinforcing best practices and engaging frontline staff
- Identifies risks and opportunities during rounding and partners with leaders to implement timely, sustainable improvements
- Supports infection prevention oversight for construction and renovation projects, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies
- Provides expert guidance on construction‑related infection control measures to protect patients and staff
- Manages and responds to outbreaks and exposures, ensuring rapid containment and effective communication
- Participates in policy and procedure review to ensure alignment with current evidence‑based guidelines
- Contributes to antimicrobial stewardship and emergency preparedness initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Public Health or related field preferred
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) HIGHLY preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in acute care infection prevention and control
- Knowledge of regulatory and clinical practice guidelines, including TJC survey readiness
- Strong understanding of infection prevention practices, epidemiologic principles, disinfection and sterilization processes, and construction standards
- Skilled in data analysis, performance improvement, and adult education techniques
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of hospital staff
- Available to travel to the client site and work a full-time schedule, M - F, or as needed
