We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Infection Preventionist who can provide hands-on, visible leadership across the organization. The ideal candidate will be deeply engaged with frontline teams, set a strong example in infection prevention practices, and foster a culture of safety and accountability. Opportunity:
• 250-bed, TJC-accredited, acute care facility
• Reports to a highly engaged Executive Director of Quality
• Serves as a key resource in the development, implementation, and evaluation of infection prevention strategies across multiple care areas
• Leads performance improvement initiatives aimed at reducing healthcare-associated infections and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
• Provides mentorship, training, and guidance to infection prevention staff to strengthen departmental performance
• Conducts surveillance, data analysis, and reporting related to infection trends and outcomes
• Collaborates with clinical, administrative, and environmental teams to promote best practices and ensure consistent application of infection prevention standards
• Manages and responds to infection outbreaks and exposures, supporting rapid containment and communication efforts
• Participates in the review and update of infection prevention policies and procedures to align with current evidence-based guidelines
• Contributes to antimicrobial stewardship initiatives and emergency preparedness planning
• Represents the department in hospital committees and interdisciplinary teams focused on patient safety and quality improvement
Qualifications:
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required
• RN (Registered Nurse) highly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Public Health or related field preferred
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in acute care infection prevention and control
• Knowledge of regulatory and clinical practice guidelines, including TJC survey readiness
• Strong understanding of infection prevention practices, epidemiologic principles, disinfection and sterilization processes, and construction standards
• Skilled in data analysis, performance improvement, and adult education techniques
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills
• Ability to travel to the site and work full-time, on-site
