Director Medical Staff Services | Multi-site Health System | Texas
Location:
Opportunity:
• Leads a team of 4 FTEs
• Over 1,000 Providers
• Provides strategic leadership and oversight for the Medical Staff Services team
• Develops and implements strategic initiatives to enhance departmental efficiency and effectiveness
• Collaborates with Medical Staff Leaders to plan, organize, direct, and coordinate Medical Staff programs and activities
• Confirms that strategies are supported and achieved, goals are met, and compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements is maintained
• Reviews and updates the medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations for approval
• Establishes, contributes, and maintains continuity in the planning, development, and implementation of standards applicable to Medical Staff members relating to credentialing, quality, and administrative functions
• Validates that all licensures (State license, DEA, DPS, etc.) and other required certificates are up to date and filed in the practitioner’s credentialing file
• Oversees reappointment proceedings before appointment expiration
• Accounts for accurate maintenance of departmental records, confidential physician data, and hospital correspondence
• Ensures timely and proper notification regarding any probable claims involving peer-reviewed cases, OPPE/FPPE
• Advises senior leadership on medical staff governance, credentialing best practices, and regulatory compliance to drive organizational success
• Develops and implements long-term strategies to enhance medical staff engagement, credentialing processes, and regulatory compliance
Qualifications:
• Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) HIGHLY preferred
• Minimum seven years of progressive leadership experience in Medical Staff Services, including strategic oversight of accreditation and regulatory standards
• Experience with Joint Commission, CMS, and other laws/regulations preferred
• MD-Staff software experience a plus
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of hospital staff
