Opportunity:
• Lead and develop a skilled team dedicated to achieving excellence in infection prevention
• Provide oversight and support for the Patient Safety Specialists and the NHSN System Administrator
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship standards, as well as adherence to state and federal regulations
• Manage the surveillance, reporting, and remediation of infections across the organization, publishing routine reports on healthcare-associated infections
• Implement updates to the infection prevention program in response to new regulations and guidelines from professional organizations
• Serve as the subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to clinical staff, performance improvement teams, and hospital committees
• Ensure infection prevention policies are up-to-date, comprehensive, and aligned with best practices and regulatory requirements
• Develop and deliver training programs and materials to meet the infection prevention needs of employees, contractors, volunteers, and students
• Oversee the development of annual risk assessments, plans, and evaluations for infection prevention across all care settings
• Track the impact of reported infections, ensuring efficient resource use while maximizing patient outcomes and care quality
• Stay current on infection control practices and guidelines through continuing education, conferences, and networking
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required, Master’s degree preferred
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is required within two years of hire
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in infection prevention and control, with experience in acute care and outpatient settings
• Ability to lead teams, manage resources, and drive improvements in infection control practices
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive infection prevention outcomes in both inpatient and outpatient settings
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of hospital staff
