Opportunity:

• Reports to the Director of Quality
• Develops and implements systems for identifying, investigating, and preventing healthcare-associated infections among patients and staff and reviews microbiology reports to determine their origin
• Investigates infections, particularly those surpassing established thresholds, to ensure patient safety and reduce medical errors through comprehensive patient care
• Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of infection control processes in healthcare settings and utilizes knowledge of risk-stratified statistics relevant to healthcare-associated infections
• Understands and implements standard and isolation precautions as outlined by the CDC
• Possesses knowledge of microbiology and modes of infectious disease transmission and is capable of teaching infection control principles to healthcare personnel at all levels
• Contributes to employee health programs, assists in follow-up for exposure incidents, and communicates relevant reports to Performance Improvement
• Assists in providing in-service education on infection prevention and control
• Monitors the appropriate use of cleaning and disinfecting products throughout the facility and ensures proper methods of asepsis, sterilization, and disinfection are employed facility-wide
• Reviews and revises department policies related to infection control as needed
• Prepares and presents relevant data to infection control committees regularly and communicates infection control activities to relevant stakeholders

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree preferred
• RN required
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required or acquired within two years of hire
• 5+ years of recent Infection Prevention experience in an acute care setting
• Cerner software experience preferred
• Possesses experience in Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF), demonstrating knowledge of infection control practices specific to this healthcare setting
• Proficiently compiles and organizes data using Microsoft Office Applications, maintaining organized records as required for job functions
• Demonstrates strong organizational abilities and effective time management, producing deliverables on time and within budget with minimal supervision
• Exhibits above-average interpersonal, problem-solving, and written and oral communication skills, maintaining clear communication with directors, managers, and coworkers
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of hospital staff
