The Chief Operating Officer (COO) has responsibility for daily hospital operations, ensuring the delivery of service excellence and quality clinical outcomes while maintaining financial integrity. The COO is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and support in setting and deploying strategy with clearly defined expectations.  

Location: Southeastern U.S.

ABOUT THIS OUTSTANDING OPPORTUNITY

  • Executes the short and long-term strategic plan in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer and leadership team
  • Oversees day-to-day operations of all departments in the hospital setting, with the exception of Nursing
  • Develops quality, trust-based relationships with all departments, staff, senior leaders and key stakeholders throughout the system
  • Communicates the vision and organizational goals
  • Serves as an inclusive, collaborative leader and relationship builder
  • Ensures operations meet the highest standards of quality and care and operates in a manner that is ethical, efficient, and fiscally sound
  • Improves processes and productivity through efficiencies and implements best-in-class solutions
  • Aligns the strategy of the hospital with health system strategies for financial sustainability and operational success
  • Supports the hospital's efforts to develop and deliver high-value, personalized care 
  • Establishes that departments comply with federal and state laws and regulations, and regulatory agencies as well as other accrediting or certifying organizations
  • Fosters a positive work environment, strong morale, and a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging for all team members and providers
  • Holds the team and themselves accountable for quality and equitable clinical outcomes
  • Stays current on emerging technologies, clinical trends, and new methods of patient care delivery 
  • Strives for operational excellence
  • Assists in planning new services that generate additional sources of profitable revenue
  • Coordinates facility and program planning, budget preparation, and administering hospital policy formation

EXPERIENCE | EDUCATION | LICENSURE | CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree required in hospital/healthcare administration, business or related field required; Master's Degree preferred
  • Five years experience as a hospital VP of Operations or COO preferred
  • In-depth knowledge and demonstrated expertise in healthcare strategies, financial improvement, quality, safety and patient experience best practices
  • Managerial, administrative and problem-solving skills to direct the assigned services of the hospital and to participate in the development and delivery of organizational goals and plans
  • Proven communication skills, both verbal and written, to articulate ideas clearly and concisely, make effective presentations and interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent ability to conceptualize long-term business goals and develop orderly processes to accomplish those goals
  • Strong proficiency in PC and Microsoft Office products
