Interim Infection Preventionist | RN Required | Southeast US
Location:
Opportunity:
• Reports to a highly supportive Chief Quality Officer
• Sole-practioner responsibility for the Infection Prevention program
• DNV Accredited acute care facility
• Partners with staff across the spectrum to ensure Infection Prevention is well-represented and implemented where necessary
• Investigates infections, particularly those surpassing established thresholds, to ensure patient safety and reduce medical errors through comprehensive patient care
• Conducts rounds to monitor compliance with recommended Infection Prevention practices
• Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of infection control processes in healthcare settings and utilizes knowledge of risk-stratified statistics relevant to healthcare-associated infections
• Oversees National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) data submission and ensures accuracy and timeliness in reporting healthcare-associated infections
• Serves as a mentor to staff across departments, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development in infection prevention practices
• Reviews and enforces infection prevention standards during construction, renovation, and maintenance projects to minimize environmental risks, ensuring compliance with ICRA (Infection Control Risk Assessment) protocols and regulatory guidelines
• Prepares and presents relevant data to infection control committees regularly and communicates infection control activities to relevant stakeholders
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Current RN license (any state)
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) strongly preferred
• 5+ years of recent Infection Prevention experience in an acute care setting
• Experience and knowledge of compliance with Employee Health, DNV standards, CMS, OSHA, and state regulations, outbreak investigation, and overall direction of the infection prevention and control program
• Proven knowledge and experience in the practice of epidemiological principles and infectious diseases as they relate to infection control and prevention
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of hospital staff
• Available to travel to the client site and work a full-time schedule, M - F, or as needed
