This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), who is also a Pharmacist.

Galileo is conducting a national search for an experienced Director of Pharmacy. This high-profile leader is responsible for directing all aspects of pharmacy operations, including managing and mentoring staff, developing and enforcing policies and procedures, preparing and maintaining accreditation, and accountability for the pharmacy's budget and productivity.

The Director of Pharmacy position is available due to an internal promotion. The department is in excellent shape and well staffed.

• Manages departmental 14 FTEs | Hospital ADC varies between 55 - 70
• Assists in coordinating and directing day-to-day operations for the pharmacy department
• Oversees all consortium pharmacy services and is responsible for all aspects of the department’s operations and budget
• Plans improvement in the department and evaluates the overall performance of the department
• Utilizes broad knowledge of applicable statutory, regulatory and administrative requirements to direct departmental operations and ensure accountability for the department's compliance
• Implements specialty quality initiatives in the areas of patient safety, the Joint Commission, specialty accreditation, and performance improvement
• Accountable for department staffing and capacity planning
• Develops and maintains effective, collaborative relationships with all site leadership, specialties, and departments, including other specialty managers, associates, and related vendors
• Communicates and monitors regulatory changes and their impacts on compliance with standards and guidelines


• Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy required; Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy, PharmD
• Licensed Pharmacist credentialed from the Alabama Board of Pharmacy or eligible for licensure
• 3+ years of proven clinical pharmacy leadership expertise in an acute care hospital environment
• Expertise in pharmacy compliance and medications
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of hospital staff
• Experience performing operational assessments and making recommendations for improvement
• Strong written and verbal communication and proficient computer skills required
