Galileo is conducting a national search to fill a quality leadership position with an acute care hospital based in rural Texas. Our client is located in a small town setting that feels like home. There are seldom delays while commuting and an abundance of outdoor adventures to include parks, caverns, hiking trails, mountain biking, museums, great food, and a flourishing arts community.

The cost of living index is low for Texas and the U.S, including housing. The unemployment and crime rates remain low, as well.

Opportunity:

• Reports to the CEO
• Oversees the incident reporting system, manages and delegates appropriate investigations, and develops reporting and improvement algorithms
• Reviews procedures to ensure compliance with key laws, including: fraud and abuse laws, the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback & Anti-Referral (Stark I & II Laws), CMS Regulations, OSHA, PPACA, HIPAA, HITECH, EMTALA, CLIA, and other healthcare laws
• Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk with the Emergency Preparedness Plan to develop and provide general guidance on corrective action plans
• Ensures proper reporting of violations or potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate or required, including self-disclosure protocols
• Assists in developing and managing Risk and Compliance department budget within guidelines and completes capital expenditure needs requests
• Works with insurance carriers; prepares risk identification reports and maintains appropriate insurance for all activities within the facility
• Develops, initiates, maintains, and reviews policies and procedures to ensure all related activities prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct
• Serves as the primary resource for resolving patient and safety complaints and mitigating loss through effective and compassionate communication
• Works collaboratively with the senior leader team to assure delivery of comprehensive risk management, patient safety, and compliance services

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree desirable
• Current RN License (Registered Nurse) required
• Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in a hospital setting, including progressive quality improvement and risk management responsibilities
• Proven leadership expertise in risk and regulatory compliance
• Experience with managing organizational change, regulatory compliance, process improvement activities, and quality management
• Knowledge of regulatory codes, legal requirements, healthcare law, and loss control
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of hospital staff
• Strong written and verbal communication and proficient computer skills required
