Galileo Search is conducting a search for an experienced Infection Preventionist for our nationally recognized, award-winning Client in North Carolina.

The Infection Preventionist reports to the Director of Infection Prevention and will actively participate in the Infection Prevention Program, by supporting prevention activities and best practice measures.
The selected candidate will have split responsibility between two facilities (approximately 17 miles apart). There are no surveillance duties for this position.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
• Reviews lab results as a case finding a mechanism for identifying both Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) and community-associated infections
• Collects data for analysis of HAIs and perform data entry
• Collects and validates data items such as device days, patient days, device type, etc.
• Assists with generating reports and distribution
• Provides analysis of surveillance findings and the development of interventional strategies
• Identifies Communicable Diseases and reports them to the Health Department and initiate control measures as needed
• Assist with local and State Public Health Department Inspections as indicated
• Facilitates compliance of regulatory agencies
• Sends HAI data to external entities, such as CDC/NHSN, NDNQI, HEN, Leapfrog, etc.
• Provides inadvertent exposure management
• Develops and reviews Infection Prevention standards
• Provides Infection Prevention education
• North Carolina RN or reciprocity required
• CIC highly preferred
• Minimum 3 years of experience in nursing required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in acute care infection prevention and control required
• Bachelor's Degree required; Master’s degree preferred
