Director of Medical Records / HIM | New England

Galileo Search is conducting a search for an experienced Director of Medical Records / HIM. This high-profile position will be responsible for leading and directing HIM services across the system; striving for compliance and promoting best practices and education in all areas of coding, documentation, and the legal health record. Opportunity:

Responsibilities will include ensuring the adequacy of systems for acquiring, analyzing, storing and retrieving information. This position will provide administrative direction and education to ensure safe, efficient, high quality delivery of services through data use. The Director will direct and plan all department functions including training of HIM staff, managing and monitoring staff productivity, ensuring a high level of quality and accuracy in work generated by staff, and overseeing privacy compliance at the department level as well as company-wide.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Information Management required; Master’s preferred
• RHIA / RHIT required
• CCS preferred
• Minimum 5 years of experience at Director level required
• Must be proficient in HIM skills including:
o EMR management
o CMS, TJC, HIPAA, ICD 9 & 10
o Document storage and transcription
o Collection, interpretation/analysis and reporting of data as generated through incident reports from EMR
o MS Office including Excel, Word and Outlook
• Experience with general accounting and budget management required
• Experience in behavioral health/substance abuse with a familiarity with the codes associated with these patients preferred
• Experience implementing policies and procedures required
