Galileo Search, LLC is conducting a specialized search for our client in New York City. The Senior Director, Patient Safety Analytics and Insights will be responsible for the development of the Patient Safety data strategy, reporting and analytics of the data, and the development of clinical metrics and insights from the data. This high-profile role will work closely with internal business partners, the patient safety and loss prevention team members and external stakeholders to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support analytics solutions to derive insights to deliver essential information and show areas of opportunity in patient safety, risk management, and loss prevention. The position reports directly to the Senior Vice President – Chief Medical Officer.

Opportunity:

• Works directly with the Chief Medical Officer, Patient Safety Initiative Teams, Client Liaison Teams, and AMC Stakeholders to define information needs and delivery requirements
• Engages in analytics projects across clinical service lines, identifying risk management opportunities for improvement through statistical analysis to include business and operational areas
• Interacts with IT regularly to maintain consistency and quality of data reporting and analytics
• Facilitates the compilation, analysis and sharing of data insights arising out of the clinical initiatives, claims reviews and data imported from external databases in the public domain and/or proprietary in nature
• Manages complex analyses to extract the relevant insights and year-over-year data patterns to perform predictive analysis that convey a clear, compelling picture of Patient Safety and Loss Prevention Initiatives tied to the annual strategic plan
• Represents the department at a senior level and works with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new information technologies, particularly in the area of Business Intelligence, analytics and data warehousing in an effort to support business initiatives
• Oversees the development of reports, dashboards, information artifacts, and scheduled production of outbound data files for the department; develop robust internal QA process
• Leverage strong visualizations and presentations to enable senior management and stakeholder teams’ comprehension of initiative impact results
• Drives not only data analytics but delivers business information that supports client reporting, clinical reporting, and data exchange with business partners
• Convey results on goals in a way that is user-friendly and compelling for internal teams and that can be used for external stakeholder audiences
• Collaborates with loss prevention and patient safety leadership to provide direction and education on analytical results to help institutions understand and quantify safety events and areas of vulnerability while identifying opportunities for improvement
• Partners with the loss prevention and patient safety teams to develop requirements for scorecards for clinical initiatives to report clinical, operations, financial and service outcomes and oversee the development and distribution of the scorecards
• Works closely with data analytics team to develop, prioritize and execute a roadmap for reporting and analytics (including dashboards, surveys, predictive modeling)
• Partners with Information Technology to develop enterprise-wide policies and procedures as they relate to data mining and data warehousing
• Develops a patient safety & loss prevention data strategy and provide this as input to the overall Enterprise Data Strategy
Manages a team of data analysts who design and execute analyses using a variety of data sources, including healthcare claims, client interactions from Institutions and Affiliates, survey data as well as other, project-specific, data types
• Provides coaching and mentoring to Data Analytics team of analysts in the development of their measurement and analytic skills

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required with Master's degree highly preferred
• Ideally 7+ years of experience manipulating and interpreting data using clinical data sources OR working within healthcare analytics projects
• Clinical Background preferred (i.e. Registered Nurse) however, not required
• Experience navigating in a large academic hospital or healthcare system setting preferred
• Current and demonstrated experience interacting and consulting with healthcare sector senior management and clinical staff (i.e. CEO, CMO, CIO, Department Heads, Physicians, Nursing)
• Experience leading analytic groups and project teams
• Experience with large amounts of complex data, including data mining and result interpretation
• Proficiency directing the use of reporting, charting and data visualization platforms such as SSRS and Tableau
• Ability to serve in the capacity of a thought leader for the patient safety area and someone that can present patient safety information to senior executives and clients from a perspective that demonstrates critical business thinking and delivers relevant business information (knows their audience)
• Possesses strong quantitative and qualitative research and analytical skills
• Ability to grasp the "big picture" while maintaining a strong attention to detail
• Data-driven, detail-oriented and fact-based; focused on getting the best answer for senior management and stakeholders
• Ability to understand and analyze the data inherent to medical records and ideally healthcare claims
• Ability to understand the needs of a diverse population, both corporate and institutional
• Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
