Opportunity:

Galileo is conducting a national search for a Transfusion Safety Officer. The individual selected for this high-profile position will act as a liaison within the hospital to ensure that blood management and transfusion related activities are conducted in the safest possible manner and meet or exceed all existing standards of practice. This position will ensure the processes related to blood management and transfusion are efficient, and meet changing organizational needs. The Transfusion Safety Officer will be responsible for enterprise-wide safety metrics and process improvement activities, to include utilization and error rate reduction.

Qualifications:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) or Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) license
• Three+ years of recent / related clinical experience ideally within Transfusion Service preferred
• Bachelor’s Degree required with Master’s preferred
• Process improvement experience and/or certification (LEAN, Six Sigma, DMAIC)
• Experience in quality assessment, process improvement, and project management
• Experience in program development or expansion
• Knowledge of regulations and accreditation standards related to blood transfusion
• Knowledge of evidence-based guidelines for the appropriate use of blood products
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
• Experience in gathering, analyzing, and presenting data
• Ability to apply evidence-based guidelines to improve clinical outcomes
• Ability to promote and provide excellent customer service
• Proven organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work independently
